Yesterday, Quint and Rishy Studer hosted a reception for the Pensacola Pledge Scholars from the University of West Florida and Pensacola State College. The reception provided the scholars the opportunity to network with community leaders who are dedicated to education and transforming the lives of students.
“Rishy and I are so pleased to have wonderful institutions like UWF and Pensacola State in our community,†said Quint Studer. “It is even more important that we make sure these opportunities are within reach of our local young people. We were excited to meet these outstanding young people and feel confident that our community’s future is in good hands. Our investment in the Pensacola Pledge scholars program is in good hands with UWF and Pensacola State and is already paying a return in the education, growth and development of these young people.â€
The Pensacola Pledge Scholarship breaks down barriers through education and provides transformative opportunities for students. Since its establishment in 2012, 57 students from the City of Pensacola have been awarded a scholarship to either UWF or PSC.
UWF sophomore finance student, Layla Navidi, shared how the scholarship has impacted her life at the reception.
“Due to the generosity of the Studers, I have the opportunity to pursue my dream of a good education and a better future,” said Navidi. “With the help of this scholarship, I can focus on my studies without being worried about the financial aspects of my education. I truly believe I would not have been successful if it were not for this program.”
The Pensacola Pledge Scholars program, sponsored by the Quint and Rishy Studer, is a $1 million gift to fund scholarships for graduating high school seniors in the City of Pensacola. The gift is an effort to provide greater access to higher education in a way that feeds development of the Pensacola community. The program awards eligible recipients attending UWF $2,000 per academic year and those attending Pensacola State College $1,200 per academic year.
“I was very happy to learn that I was a recipient of the Pensacola Pledge Scholarship,†said PSC student Rachel Gibbons. “I am so thankful to the Studers for their generous, financial support towards my higher education. I hope one day I will be able to help other students achieve their goal just as they have helped me.â€
