PSC administrators recommend a $280 Full Cost of Instruction Fee for both Bachelor and Credit programs. This fee is what is charged to students on their third or more attempts on the same course. The fee averages the cost of upper-level and lower-level credit courses that had systemwide average costs of $280 each during the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
The courses and proposed changes include the following:
Health Sciences Department
DEH 1002L – Dental Hygiene Pre-Clinic lab fee increases to $153 from $125.
Reason: Some materials that are currently required for students to buy externally are being incorporated into the lab fee. The College can buy the items in quantity cheaper and without sales tax lowering the total cost to the student.
DEH 2804L – Dental Hygiene Clinic III lab fee increases to $265 from $200.
Reason: Some materials that are currently required for students to buy externally are being incorporated into the lab fee. The College can buy the items in quantity cheaper and without sales tax lowering the total cost to the student.
Natural Sciences Department
CHM 1045 – General Chemistry I (Multiple Programs) lab fee increases to $35 from $25.
Reason: Changes in labs, lab supplies and increased supplier costs.
CHM 1046 – General Chemistry II (Multiple Programs)lab fee increases to $65 from $25.
Reason: Changes in labs, lab supplies and increased supplier costs.
CHM 2210 – Organic Chemistry II (Multiple Programs) lab fee increases to $70 from $25.
Reason: Changes in labs, lab supplies and increased supplier costs.
CHM 2211 – Organic Chemistry II (Multiple Programs) lab fee increases to $65 from $25.
Reason: Changes in labs, lab supplies and increased supplier costs.
Mathematics and Computer Science Department
CET 1588 Network+ (Multiple Programs) lab fee increases to $178 from $173.
