Fortunately, The Recycling Partnership has swooped in with grant money to remind Pensacola that yes, recycling is still a thing people do in 2025.
The city’s commitment to “environmental sustainability” is truly inspiring – so inspiring, in fact, that they needed external funding and expertise to figure out how to pick up recyclables again.

- If you want to keep living like it’s 1995 and throw everything in one bin, congratulations! Your garbage-only service drops to a mere $24.99. But if you’re one of those radical environmentalists who wants to recycle, prepare to shell out $32.99 for the privilege of sorting your trash like a responsible adult.
Being eco-conscious will cost you an extra $8 per month. Want a second trash can? Another $8, please. It’s like a subscription service, but for basic municipal functions.
- The city promises “enhanced education and outreach” to teach residents “what can and cannot be recycled.” Other cities have figured out what do to with empty pizza boxes years ago.
Mayor D.C. Reeves assures us this collaboration will bring back a “robust and effective recycling program.”
- So mark your calendars, Pensacola! Keep an eye out for that Business Reply Mailer – telling you how to opt-in for recycling opt-in now. Early birds can expect their shiny new recycling carts the week of July 7, assuming they’re willing to pay extra for the privilege of being environmentally responsible.
