Pensacolians near and far will be honored this Saturday at the 2nd Annual “Living The Dream” and Motown Tribute fundraiser, held Saturday evening at New World Landing.

The upbeat and inspirational event highlights the work of prominent sons and daughters of Pensacola who embody the values of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, such as hard work, fairness, inclusion, and giving back to the community.

In addition to highlighting the 2014 Living the Dream honorees, the event also hosts the Motown Tribute Band, which plays a variety of Motown hits and other music from the 1960’s.

Sabrina Wallace-Jordan, one of the organizers of the Living the Dream event, said that the combination of inspiring stories and great music make the night a fun way to remember the legacy of Dr. King but still focus on the future.

“The Pensacola area has some great stories to tell, with people across the area being successful and giving back to the community,” said Wallace-Jordan. “This event is a fun way to honor the accopmlishments of these individuals, reflect on the progress our community has made since the Civil Rights struggles, and bring the community together to enjoy some great Motown music,” Wallace-Jordan continued. “It’s a fun event and we have an outstanding group of honorees this year.”

This year’s honorees are a mix of past and present Pensacolians from all walks of life:
