What: Permaculture: A Hand-on Solution to Climate Change
Where: Bayview Senior Resource Center, 2000 E. Lloyd St., Pensacola
When: Tuesday, March 10, 2015, 7 p.m.
Climate change is such a huge problem that we often wonder if our efforts to address it are having any real effect. Wouldn’t it be nice if there were something we could do right now that would not only help tackle climate change head on, but would also dramatically improve the quality of our day-to-day lives? That something exists, and it’s called permaculture. Renee Perry and Tom Garner, certified permaculture designers and owners of East Hill Edible Gardening, lead this introduction to the permaculture concept.
Permaculture is a design system that teaches us how we can make our lives, and particularly our own properties, as efficient, productive, and sustainable as possible. Permaculture draws from a wide array of strategies, from home food production to rainwater catchment to home energy generation. Permaculture shows us how, through good design, we can squeeze the maximum benefit out of these and other strategies while saving money, improving our own health, and living a more abundant and fulfilling life. As a side benefit, we also become a part of the solution to climate change. What could be better than that?
