This is the schedule that we’ve been given:
THURSDAY, MARCH 20
A hearse carrying Governor Askew will depart from Tallahassee at approximately 1:00 p.m. Eastern time for Pensacola. It is expected to arrive at approximately 3:30 p.m. Central time, and Governor Askew will lie in repose at his former home church, First Presbyterian Church Pensacola at 33 East Gregory Street, Pensacola. Governor Members of the public are invited to pay their respects from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Central time.
On the trip to Pensacola, Governor Askew will be met on the Interstate 10 bridge (Escambia Bay Bridge) by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. They will then travel to downtown Pensacola on Interstate 110 – the Reubin Askew Parkway – accompanied by an honor guard and escort provided by Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan.
FRIDAY, MARCH 21
Governor Askew will be laid to rest, with full military honors, at Bayview Memorial Park, 3351 Scenic Highway (US 90 East) in Pensacola. The graveside service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Central time and will be open to the public. As the service nears its conclusion, a military honor guard will fire three volleys followed by a bugler playing taps, after which the flag draping the casket will be ceremonial folded and presented to Mrs. Askew.
