Plastics are hazardous: Public Forum

Live on Facebook at facebook.com/earthethics/ today at 1 p.m. watch a public forum on the hazards of plastics and why it is important the State of Florida gives local municipalities their power back to make decisions on how they want to deal with the plastic pollution crisis.

Speakers:

Dr. Enid Sisskin received her PhD from Columbia University in Pathobiology. She has worked as an environmental activist in this area for more than 20 years. She is currently on the faculty of the School of Allied Health and Life Sciences at the University of West Florida. She is the creator of the Eco Minute and has produced & hosted the series since 2005.

Mary Gutierrez has an A.S. in Environmental Sampling and Analysis, bachelor’s in environmental science and master’s in public administration with a concentration in Sustainable Community Development. Ms. Gutierrez has also received a Certification in Public Health with an emphasis on Environmental Health. She has over 25 years as an environmental professional having worked as an environmental chemist, planner, and Environmental Science Specialist. She created Earth Ethics, a 501(c)3, in 2008 and Earth Action, a 501(c)4, in 2013.

Jen Deubler of Milton, Florida, has been an integral part of Ocean Hour since 2015. Jen started as a volunteer doing Ocean Hour beach cleanups with her family. By 2017 Ocean Hour, recognizing her skills and savvy, recruited her to handle all their social media platforms. Jen is vital to Ocean Hour in many other ways – as a weekly cleanup site captain (with a large loyal following of volunteers); as the Eagle Scout and Girl Scout Gold Award mentor; as the Ocean Hour special project’s coordinator (particularly the beach toy borrow bin program) and as a member of the Board of Directors.
