The Gulf Breeze Pelican is no longer in print. The paper, owned by the Gannett/PNJ, was published as competitor for the south Santa Rosa County market. In the 1990s at the height of the UFO craze, Gannett bought the Gulf Breeze Sentinel, which had been privately owned and in print since the sixties.
Then Gannett shut it down in 2001. When the Gulf Breeze News starting publishing, Gannett created the Gulf Breeze Pelican that was inserted in the Wednesday editions of the daily newspaper…until this month.
