Podcast: Are Moms for Liberty about liberty?

Ryan Wiggins, chief of staff for The Lincoln Project, questions whether Moms for Liberty are really about liberty – “I think it’s just the opposite of what they claim to be.”

She asserts the group supports having the government tell a parent how to parent.

Wiggins added, “That’s just, that is not conservatism. That is big government. That is not parents having rights. That is the government taking away your rights as parents to decide what is best for your child.”

When asked about Gov. Ron DeSantis’s presidential aspirations, she believes the governor is overreaching.

“I think we are watching an implosion of a neophyte politician,” said Wiggins. “He needs to stay away from the culture issues. He needed to be a classic conservative – keep your fiscal conservatism; let the social stuff somewhat go. Most Americans are on board with that, and I think what you’re seeing is an overreach.”
