On NewsTalk 1370 WCOA, Florida House Speaker Chris Sprowls recapped the 2021 legislative session and discussed what we can expect in the upcoming committee meetings. Sprowls also shared what makes the Florida House special.
“(The Florida House) is unlike Washington, where they say, ‘Well, let’s save it for next term,’ or, ‘Let’s save it for next decade,”‘ and they just kick the can down the road,” said Sprowls. “We don’t have that luxury thankfully in the Florida legislature.”
The Speaker continued, “I’m a big proponent of term limits. I think it’s allowed youthful energy; it’s allowed new ideas. But it also has said, ‘Hey, if you care about your community, know that you don’t have the luxury to say I’m going to kick it to another day or I’ll kick it to another session.’ You got to do it now. And I think that’s one of the things that makes the Florida legislature one of the last great places for public service in America.”
