Poets for Civil Rights

On Saturday, June 30 at 6 p.m., the civil rights organization Movement for Change will host an open mike poetry reading, Poets for Civil Rights, featuring a number of very talented regional poets. This event will take place at the Center for Social Justice, located at 1603 North Davis Hwy.

Emceed by local poetry organizer Quincy Hull and assisted by Scott Satterwhite, this event will bring together a wide range of poets and poetry lovers to show their support for the ongoing civil rights movement.

Hosted by Movement for Change, “Poets for Civil Rights” promises to be an engaging event that inspires people of all ages to continue in the struggle for parity within our communities.

Movement for Change is a local civil rights organization that has been active in the community for over a decade. Since its inception, Movement for Change has provided advocacy for those citizens deprived of fairness and equitable treatment within the community. Founded by the late Leroy Boyd, Movement for Change fights for voting rights, works to end discrimination, and raises community awareness about issues that affect the educational, economic, and social wellbeing of each citizen of Northwest Florida.

So join Movement for Change for this dynamic event, “Poets for Civil Rights,”on Saturday, June 30th at 6 p.m. at the Center for Social, 1603 North Davis Hwy (Pensacola). Food and drinks will be available. This event is free and open to the public, but as a social justice organization that relies heavily on community support, donations for Movement for Change will be greatly appreciated.
