Pensacola Police Press Release:
Charges filed in Charlie Kirk Vigil Incident
Pensacola Police have arrested Troy Donovan Grow, 56, and charged him with felony battery for his involvement in a disturbance on Sunday, Sept. 14, at Graffiti Bridge during a vigil being held for Charlie Kirk.
Investigators also have issued a warrant for the arrest of Larry Wayne Hopkins, 49, who is wanted for his part in the disturbance, and will also be charged with felony battery.
The incident began when the victim approached the mural of Kirk, which was painted on the overpass during the vigil. The victim was recording himself as he produced a can of spray paint and began to spray over the painting of Kirk. In the video, it can be seen that the Grow approached the victim in an aggressive manner and produced a can of pepper spray as the victim was shouting, “You can’t touch me!”
The video was cut off at that point, and the victim was sprayed with pepper spray by Grow. Hopkins then threw the victim to the ground and struck him in the head with his elbow. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
