A free campaign workshop for political candidates, campaign workers, potential future candidates, and citizens just interested in knowing more about political campaigns will be held on Saturday, January 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the main meeting room of the downtown library at 239 North Spring Street, Pensacola.
The workshop will provide information about Florida election laws, voter lists, petition strategies, and fund raising. Speakers include Escambia County Supervisor of Elections David Stafford; District 1 representative Vicki Campbell, Emerald Coast Utilities Authority; and former Pensacola city councilwoman Diane Mack.
The Institute for Women in Politics of Northwest Florida, Inc., a non-partison non-profit organization founded last summer by a group of women in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, is the host of the workshop, the first of two planned for this election year by the Institute. The second workshop, which will provide a full day of training on campaign management and candidate marketing skills, is scheduled for April 5. There will be a charge for the April workshop.
Advance registration for the free January 18 workshop is required and may be done via email sent to contact@iwpflorida.org. Registration deadline is January 16.
The mission of the Institute is to encourage women to consider running for elected office and to provide campaign education and training resources for women and men in Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties who may be interested in becoming political candidates.
