Tomorrow, the Pensacola City Council will meet to vote on who will replace District 5 Councilman Gerald Wingate, who passed away last month. Ten people have submitted their names for the position.x
Inweekly had the Political Matrix poll 237 registered voters in District 5 and ask for their preference. Former Councilman John Jeralds outdistanced the field with 35.44%.
Jerralds was appointed to the Pensacola City Council in 2000, replacing Rita Jones who ran for county commission. He served until 2012, when he lost the seat to political newcomer Gerald Wingate.

METHODOLOGY:
The persons sampled were registered voters of Pensacola City Council District 5. The voters were called using an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system during the hours of 3-8 p.m. between Aug. 30 and Sept. 2. The Margin of Error for this study is +/- 5.5% with a confidence level of 95%.
