County Commissioner Grover Robinson still leads in the race to be Pensacola’s next mayor, but Councilman Brian Spencer has cut into his margin, according to the latest Inweekly/Political Matrix poll.
Robinson garnered 30.4 percent of the vote and leads Spencer by 11.3 points. Before Spencer entered in the race in late June, Robinson was within striking distance of winning the post without a runoff with 41.8 percent and a 29.2-point lead over the field. Now a runoff appears to be unavoidable.
Drew Buchanan remains in third place (11.7 percent) and has continued to pick up supports as has Lawrence Powell, who now has 10.6 percent. David Mayo dropped from 12.6 percent on June 15 to 8.6 percent. Jonathan Green isn’t getting much traction with 3.6 percent.
Sixteen percent either don’t know the candidates or are still undecided.

METHODOLOGY:
The persons sampled were likely voters of the primary and general election cycles. They were called using an Interactive Voice Response system during the hours of 2-8 p.m. August 3-5. The phone numbers called were provided by the Escambia County Supervisor of Elections office. The Margin of Error for this study is +/- 4.5 percent with a confidence level of 95 percent.
