Poll says 47 percent of locals do not support gaming

The Pensacola Voice has begun polling and surveying likely voters and citizens about certain hot issues around the region. Led by Asst. Editor Greg Fink (formerly marketing researh director and CEO of Open Market Research as well as Marketing Metrics and Media, LLC), the paper used the Interactive Voice Response system to telephone poll our community.

Below is the release about its first survey concerning local gaming and gambling in Northwest Florida.

Local Gaming

In a recent survey conducted by Pensacola Voice Polling, a study of nearly 300 super voters in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa county found that 47.25% do not support gaming or gambling in our community with 40.83% saying they were for it. Just 8.72% said they still needed more information and 3.21% were unsure.
When asking those who supporting gambling which they preferred, slot machines or poker rooms, 65% supported both packaged together equally.
This survey was conducted by an Interactive Voice Response system and the sample size was made up of voters who have voted 4 out of the 5 previous elections. The margin of error on this survey is +/- 3%.
