Poll: Voters split on rehiring Thomas, arming teachers

The recent Inweekly/Political Matrix poll found Escambia County voters are split on the school board hiring Malcolm Thomas as its first appointed superintendent, although the age groups most likely to have kids in school were decidedly against bringing the three-time superintendent back.

Voters were also split on whether teachers should be armed. The Escambia County School Board has voted to not arm its teachers.

Do you think the Escambia County School Board, should make Malcolm Thomas, the current elected superintendent, the first appointed Superintendent of Schools, after his term ends next year?

Do you think the Escambia County School Board should allow school teachers to have guns, for protection, in the classroom as long as they are compliant with all local, state and federal laws?
