PPD also steps up security at youth football games

Press release: In response to a fatal shooting on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Bellview Athletic Complex in Escambia County, the Pensacola Police Department will have an increased police presence at City of Pensacola athletic parks for the remainder of the youth football season.

The increased police presence will be in addition to enhanced security measures at youth football games, in an effort to ensure the safety of the children, parents, coaches, families, and everyone who visits City of Pensacola athletic parks. As always, the safety of the public remains the top priority of the Pensacola Police Department and the City of Pensacola.

Some of these specific security measures cannot be shared publicly in order to be most effective, but PPD would like to assure the public that action is being taken to maintain a safe environment at all City of Pensacola parks and athletic complexes.

PPD will also be strictly enforcing the city’s open container ordinance, which does not allow the possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages at any park, playground, or other recreational facility owned by the city, unless otherwise specially permitted.
