Property appraiser expects assessments to be up (updated)

Jones
Next week, Escambia County Property Appraiser Chris Jones will send out his projections on the property assessments to the city of Pensacola and Escambia County. The final numbers won’t come to until later, but the projections help local governments with their budget planning.

Inweekly asked Jones what he will tell the city and county. He said he expects a 3- to 4-percent increase inside the Downtown Improvement Board District. The city of Pensacola is up around 1.5 percent and the Escambia County is about 2 percent.

“We are coming back,” said Jones. “After seven years of flat growth or decreases, our economy is seeing development that is adding to the tax rolls.”
