Four Human Resources professionals will facilitate a Pensacola State College Nonprofit Center for Excellence workshop on Thursday, May 11.
Set for 8 a.m.-noon in the Florida Power and Light Company Nonprofit Center Annex on the College’s Pensacola campus, the workshop will discuss recruiting, screening, interviewing, training, disciplining and more. The campus is at 1000 College Blvd. The Nonprofit Center Annex is in Building 17.
Brenda Kay Hammel, an account executive with Express Employment Professionals; Tammy Henderson, director of human resources at Pensacola State; Gin Neal McVay, founder of Amplified HR Solutions; and Mel Miner, manager of Employment Services at Pensacola State, will present at the half-day workshop.
At 8:15 a.m., Hammel will discuss Effective Recruitment. She will cover what legal questions can be asked of prospective employees and how to find the right recruit for your team. She also will share her experiences with employees who want to work from home.
At 9 a.m., Henderson will address Effective Teams. She will talk about how to conduct an evaluation and create a plan with steps toward improved performance. Performance improvement plans, documentation and progressive disciplinary processes also will be addressed.
At 10:15 a.m., McVay will discuss Effective Teams and provide tactics to help build, improve and maintain effective teams.
At 11 a.m., Miner will discuss Creating a Positive Culture. She will share how to build strength among individual team members to create a positive culture and discuss how honoring individuality and using a reward structure can help build culture.
