Press release: Come enjoy the original music of local, regional and international composers at Pensacola ComposerFest XI, a Pensacola State College Lyceum Series event.
The free concert is 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus.
Pensacola ComposerFest provides an opportunity to hear new music written by contemporary composers, most of whom are attending the event. Several works on the program are world premieres.
This year’s event features compositions by Emily La Force, Martha Lofton, Tom Reiner, Michael Richardson, Jerry Sieg, and Joseph Spaniola as well as PSC music faculty members, Michael Coleman, Matt Fossa and Kadisha Onalbayeva.
The concert also includes work by the late Robert Sherwood, a beloved music professor at PSC for more than 25 years.
Among the featured performers are Michael Coleman, piano; Sheila Dunn, soprano; Matt Fossa, oboe; Corey McKern, voice; Steinway Artist Kadisha Onalbayeva, piano; and Blake Riley, piano.
Works on the program include music written for voice, piano, violin, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and percussion.
