For the fourth straight year, Community College Week magazine has named Pensacola State College to its list of Top 100 Associate Degree Producers in the nation. The ranking compares about 1,400 colleges.
Community College Week ranks Pensacola State at No. 33 for degrees awarded in Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities.
Pensacola State also ranks No. 40 for degrees awarded in Registered Nursing, Nursing Administration, Nursing Research and Clinical Nursing.
Overall, the college ranks No. 88 for associate degrees awarded in all disciplines.
“Making the Top 100 Associate Degree Producers list is an important achievement for the college and our community,†says Pensacola State President Ed Meadows. “It indicates we are successfully retaining and preparing our students for graduation.
“We offer associate degree programs that transfer seamlessly to Florida universities as well as those that lead directly to employment. Recently, the Institute for a Competitive Workforce reported that a graduate with an associate degree earns almost $9,000 more a year than a high school graduate. An educated workforce benefits our community on many levels.â€
The Community College Week data is for the 2010-2011 academic year.
The complete rankings are published in the June 11, 2012 issue of the higher-education publication and can be found online at http://www.ccweek.com/.
