Stan “Quick Draw” McDaniels has pre-filed run for with the state to run for Congress as a member of the Libertarian Party of Florida. McDaniel successfully ran as a Republican against County Commissioner Robert Bender in 2022, losing by 58 percentage points. In the 2024 election cycle, he pre-filed for several races but did not complete the qualification process.
QUICK DRAW: In July 2022, we broke the news that Escambia County District 4 commission candidate Stan McDaniels had been charged with carrying a prohibited firearm. According to the police report, McDaniels had tucked in the front of his pants a loaded black Beretta M9. “Inside the loaded Beretta was a magazine holder with nine .40 cal rounds and there was also one round in the chamber.”
- Pensacola Police responded to a call of a suspicious male in the area of Baylen and Main Streets on July 4. The officers were later notified by dispatch the man was Stanley McDaniels who had the pistol visible as he waved at passing vehicles. Officer Mayo made contact with McDaniels and told him that open carry is not allowed in the state. McDaniel told the officer he would exercise his Fifth Amendment right. He provided his Florida Conceal Carry permit as his identification. The officer noticed that McDaniel had a camera on a tripod to film the encounter. Angela Marie Windhauser of Winter Gardens, Fla. has pre-filed with the state. Earlier this year, she pre-filed to run against U.S. Sen. Rick Scott but didn’t qualify to put on the 2024 GOP primary ballot.
