Ralph liked first Trillium plan

In another Letter to the Editor – Ralph Petersen says he wants a ferry service instead on the Trillum property. And he really liked the first 2003 Trillium plan that had new auditorium and a park for festivals.

“Personally, I liked the main concept of Trillium I — an earlier proposal for a much-needed city auditorium on that same property.

Unfortunately, even though the earlier design was far less expensive than the current one, it was rejected by Pensacola voters on a similar referendum three years ago — partly because of its perceived “excessive cost” (of $30 million plus interest).”

— Ralph C. Peterson, Pensacola

RO Note: The first plan was opposed by the Independent News and others because it had limited potential of helping the local economy. Few jobs would be created. It’s cost was $41 million…about the same as the CMP proposal.
