City Administrator Tim Kinsella filled in for Mayor D.C. Reeves on “Real News” this morning. We talked about his first three weeks on the job.
“It’s been a joy in the first three weeks, and it’s all because of just the people that are there. The people of Pensacola, let me tell you this, you have some quality people working for you in that city hall,” he said.
Kinsella continued, “I’ve worked in a lot of big organizations. I did two tours in the Pentagon. I know what bureaucracies work like. (The people of Pensacola) It shouldn’t be a surprise. This is more like a validation that there are a lot of really good people working in city hall on hard problems, trying to do the best that they can for the people of Pensacola, and it’s good to see it.”
He has focused on learning the people, the processes, and then what problems they are. “A lot of times the problems are created by the people and the processes. So how can I inject efficiencies in there by looking at things from a different perspective? We’re always trying to improve. So I’m not trying to create problems but more create solutions where they’re needed.”
