Special Olympics Florida’s Milton Race for Inclusion is this Saturday, Dec. 4. This 40K/26-mile cycle race takes place on the Heritage Trail, with opening ceremonies beginning at 7:45 a.m.
A local Santa Rosa County Special Olympics Florida athlete, Sam Grosjean, and his mom Renee discuss the importance of inclusion and what the Race for Inclusion campaign means to them.
Sam has been with Special Olympics Florida for eight years, participating in basketball, bowling, cycling, swimming, kayaking, and more.
He has lived with medical issues all his life and is paralyzed from the hips down. Sam hasn’t let either of these obstacles hold him back, fearlessly trying just about anything and is always up to challenge himself physically.
Being part of Special Olympics Florida has helped Sam cultivate human connections, building a network of friends and he has learned he’s capable of tremendous things. He recently graduated from high school in June of this year and is now studying culinary arts at a local vocational center.
