Last October, DOJ announced it had found evidence that Alabama’s foster care system violates the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). Attorneys at three law firms. including the Levin Papantonio Rafferty law firm, stepped up on behalf of the children who have suffered from this statewide, systemic discrimination. They filed lawsuits against Nancy Buckner, Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Human Resources, and Eric Mackey, State Superintendent of the Alabama Department of Education.
