Real News – Port, Wahoos, Equity Project Alliance and more

This morning, I broke the news that GE has landed the largest wind turbine contract in the Western Hemisphere – which is good news for the Port of Pensacola. Port Director Clark Merritt tells us why.

In partnership with Waste Management, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos organization will renovate a ball field at the Gull Point Resource Center, 7000 Spanish Trail, on Thursday, Jan. 11.

The renovation effort, led by Southern League Groundskeeper of the Year Scotty Atkins, is part of the Blue Wahoos’ mission to improve the quality of life for the people living in Pensacola. The organization teams with Waste Management each year to help renovate a local baseball field needing repair.

Bill Vilona shares the details.

Dr. Lusharon Wiley, who for the past six years has led corporate culture, equity, and inclusion efforts at Innisfree Hotels as Vice President of Corporate Culture, has been appointed the new Executive Director of the Equity Project Alliance (EPA), working with local business leaders to effect sustainable change in Escambia County and northwest Florida.

Dr. Wiley discusses the EPA and her plans for 2024.

Lissa Dees discusses how well the ParkMobile App is working, plus talks about the 3-1-1 service.
