Press release: Baptist Health Care, Cox and Today’s Soft Rock 94.1 are excited to announce the 5th annual Bras Across the Bridge on Sat., Oct. 11 starting at 8 a.m. Join us on the beach side of the Bob Sikes Bridge at The Grand Marlin. Our partners for this event include The Grand Marlin Restaurant and Oyster Bar, Magic 106.1; News Talk 1370 WCOA; NASH 102.7; JET 100.7; Big Rhino, and Margaritaville Beach Hotel. Breast cancer survivors, their loved ones and the community are invited to join together to increase breast cancer awareness.
Beginning at 8 a.m., participants can park and register at The Grand Marlin on Pensacola Beach. The first 300 participants will receive a pink Bras Across the Bridge T-shirt. Participation is $20 per person plus the donation of a new bra. At 9 a.m. the crowd will make its way across the bridge with bras strung together as a show of awareness and support for the fight against breast cancer. The garments will be donated to local organizations that help women and girls in need. Funds raised will be donated to Baptist Health Care Foundations Mammogram Fund. This fund helps provide mammograms to qualified women who are not financially able to get one on their own.
Join us after the event for the Bras Across the Bridge after-party at The Grand Marlin from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The after-party celebration will include live music and a silent auction.
According to the National Cancer Institute, more than 225,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed this year nearly 40,000 will not survive. While there is no cure for breast cancer, early detection enables early treatment and increases chances for survival.
