Rep. Broxson requests Jayer Williamson replace his father on commission

Rep. Doug Broxson (R-Midway), on behalf of the Santa Rosa County Legislative Delegation, has requested Jayer Williamson to be appointed to the Santa Rosa County Commission District 1 seat. The vacancy was created when his father, Jim Williamson, stepped down shortly before he passed away this month.

Broxson stated, “Jim Williamson was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a successful businessman and dedicated public servant. Over the years, he devoted much of his time and energy to Santa Rosa County through many avenues of service, and his last wish was for his son, Jayer, to be appointed to fill his seat. I requested that Governor Rick Scott appoint Jayer to serve in the seat until the 2014 election cycle is complete.”

Governor Scott has the authority to fill the vacant office with an appointee until the next general election on November 4, 2014. The Santa Rosa County Commission District 1 seat will be included in the 2014 election cycle. The deadline to qualify by petition for the election is noon May 19, 2014, and the qualifying period will be from noon June 16 through noon June 20.
