RESTORE Advisory Committee Meeting

Tomorrow afternoon, the Escambia County RESTORE Act Advisory Committee will hold it’s first meeting. The group will meet regularly thereafter.

“I want them to meet about every two weeks for us to get our feet underneath us,” said Escambia County Community and Environment Director Keith Wilkins, who is leading the meeting.

On the agenda tomorrow is an introduction too the RESTORE Act and the involved process. As well as an overview of Sunshine Law, ethics policies and committee by-laws.

“It’s probably gonna be pretty dry,” Wilkins said.

Wilkins said he did not know if the advisory committee would be developing a “vision,” as has been suggested by Commissioner Grover Robinson, or looking for more shovel-ready projects, as preferred by Commissioner Wilson Robertson.

“That’s truly the $65,000 question,” Wilkins said, adding that “the committee will probably want to act on a vision,” but that “it’s also important that there are some kind of quick successes.”

Tomorrow’s meeting begins at 2:30 p.m. at the Escambia County Central Office Complex.
