Roads suit to be discussed privately

Roads, Inc. is Escambia County’s largest road contractor and has made millions over the past five years on local government business. The company has manipulated the county laws to create a huge hole in the ground in Cantonment. At first it was a catfish pond, then a residential lake whose dirt is being used by Roads in its business. What it really is is an excavation/mining operation that may be destroying the neighborhoods next to it.

In February, the county stopped Roads Inc. work on a 9-acre pond in Cantonment by revoking the company’s stormwater permit needed to dig it. Soon after, Roads sued.

Escambia County Commissioners will meet privately Thursday, May 15 with the county attorney to discuss the lawsuit by Roads Inc. of Northwest Florida against the county. The meeting is scheduled for just before the 9 a.m. agenda review meeting in the Escambia County Governmental Complex, 221 Palafox Place, Pensacola. Elected officials are allowed under state law to meet privately to discuss litigation.

Escambia County continues to do business with Roads, Inc. Road, Inc. owner Cody Rawson held a fundraiser for Commissioner Mike Whitehead last night.
