Rock & Roll Hall fame releases RNC playlist

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has created a “playlist” of songs by Rock Hall inductees and inspired by the events this week at the GOP Convention. Each song highlights the most talked about events of the evening.

Day One – Monday, July 18
Song: You’re the Inspiration

Artist: Chicago
2016 Rock Hall Inductees

Controversy and charges of plagiarism surrounded Melania Trump’s speech Monday, which headlined the Republican National Convention’s opening night. Trump’s speech closely mirrored a portion of Michelle Obama’s address to the Democratic National Convention in 2008.

Day Two – Tuesday, July 19
Song: Jailhouse Rock

Artist: Elvis Presley
1986 Rock Hall Inductee

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie gave a fiery speech on Tuesday, asking the crowd to reply “guilty” or “not guilty” while he spoke about Hillary Clinton’s character, judgment and trustworthiness. Spontaneous chants of “lock her up” broke out during the speech.

Day Three – Wednesday, July 20
Song: Lying Eyes

Artist: The Eagles
1998 Rock Hall Inductees

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) gave a stirring address to the convention Wednesday night, but did not endorse Donald Trump, telling Americans to “vote your conscience.” Cruz had previously pledged to endorse the Republican nominee.
