Here is a quote from the letter House Speaker Mario Rubio sent out to incoming State House members:
“The purpose of the conference is threefold. First, we want to ensure that all members of the House are given the history and information necessary to understand the nuances of the property insurance issue. Second, we want to stimulate a free and open discussion about our policy choices. Third, we want to ensure that we dedicate the time necessary to develop legislation that will bring lower rates for Florida’s taxpayers.
I have repeatedly said that there will be a new culture in the House – one that places the pursuit of ideas over the pursuit of partisan or self-interest. I hope that all members – Republicans and Democrats – will join me next week in showing the people of Florida that we can work together to solve the problems facing the people of this state.
As the conference is being held in place of Committee Week, the House will reimburse travel expenses and all absences must be excused in advance.”
