Florida law required Rudman to resign to run for Congress.

Rudman announced HJR 77 – Recall of County Officers and Commissioners on Monday, Dec. 30: “HJR 77 is a resolution that promotes fairness across all counties in Florida. Most people are not aware that charter counties in this state have the right to recall their corrupt elected county officials, whereas the majority of counties in Florida do not have that same right. My resolution puts an amendment on the ballot, which asks Floridians if they would like to extend this right to every county in the state. In my opinion, every citizen should have the right to a redress of their grievances. Currently, the right to recall corrupt county officials, which is enjoyed by 20 counties that make up 75% of all Floridians, is not available to citizens in Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, or Walton counties. My resolution aims to change that.”
