Sales tax holiday for hurricane prep starts tomorrow

Escambia County is encouraging residents to participate in Florida’s 14-day Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, May 27 through June 9.

On Thursday, May 26, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law HB 7063, Florida’s Family-Focused Tax Relief, which is the largest tax relief plan in Florida’s history.

Why this matters: The Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday was created to incentivize preparedness before hurricane and tropical storm season. Hurricane season begins June 1 and continues through November.
