Salvation Army needs help

With 9 days left in the Red Kettle Campaign, The Salvation Army of Pensacola finds itself only $50,000 shy of reaching its $148,000 goal.

“Every coin, dollar bill, or check dropped in the red kettle makes a difference”, said Captain Stephan Wildish. “Raising adequate funds to support our community is more important now than ever. More people are turning to us for assistance. Like in many other places, The Salvation Army’s operating costs have increased over the past year. The community’s financial support is essential for us to assist those who seek our help – our capacity to make a difference is dependent on the generosity of our local community.”

Thanks to the generous donations received during the holiday season, The Salvation Army can provide support for families and individuals in need, including assistance with utilities, food, lifesaving prescriptions, and life skills classes. The Salvation Army also provides a free after-school program to children in the area (with meals and snacks) as well as many organized recreational sporting activities. All of this is in addition to seasonal Christmas programs and other programs and services provided throughout the year.

“Christmas is a time of joy, but for people living in poverty, it can be a season of worry. We ask you to support families and individuals in our community by considering The Salvation Army for your holiday donations. Your donation will stay right here in this community, helping people in dire need,” added Wildish.
