Salzmann sponsors back-to-school giveaway in Molino

Rep Salzman in partnership with Feeding the Gulf Coast, Kevin Stevens, Sheriff Simmons and other community partners is sponsoring a food and supplies distribution for the residents of the City of Molino on Saturday, July 30, starting at 8 a.m. while supplies last at Molino Community Center, 6450-A Hwy 95A N.

The food varies but will consist of fresh fruits/vegetables/meats and other fresh items (30,000 pounds). They also will have full-size backpacks that will contain some school supplies for children (minimum of 100 will be given out).  Florida Power & Light will be giving out LED lightbulbs to families – a great way to help empower families to save on their power bills. They will also have $10 Wal-Mart gift cards (minimum of 150 will be given out).  These gift cards can be used for gas, other groceries or last-minute supplies for school.

From Salzman’s office: “The concept was to help our North End community have a great start of the school year by providing food on the table so they are heading out the door with full bellies, and help with backpacks and school supplies so children are walking into school ready to learn. The LED bulbs were something we had been working on for a while, and the food distribution seemed like the perfect opportunity to distribute them. Finally, the $10 Wal Mart cards can be used for anything the families determine they need.  Some may want to buy socks or other clothing, others may need food or gas to drive their children to school.  We know it’s not much and that it’s not enough for every family in Molino, but every little bit helps.  We have done a food distribution in North Escambia every few months since 2020 and our community partners have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to serve.”

This food and school supplies distribution site will be Drive-Thru with a designated space for Walk-Up. Cars may line up no earlier than 7:30 a.m. Those interested in volunteering may contact the volunteer coordinator (information below).
