Sansom, Richburg factor

The Daily News is trying to evaluate in the impact of Ray Sansom resigning as Speaker of the Florida House. A grand jury, a House investigator and a state ethics commission are reviewing the allegations that Sansom steered money to Northwest Florida State College, which tried to hire him for a $110K VP job, and that he held a meeting with NFSC president Bob Richburg and his board that violated Sunshine laws by not keeping minutes.

Of course, there is always someone who wants to blame the press for reporting the story. Ted Corcoran, president and CEO of the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, believes the St. Petersburg Times and Miami Herald, who lead the way on the reporting, have a grudge against Northwest Florida.
