Santa Rosa County Commissioner charged with Sunshine violation

State Attorney Bill Eddins has charged Santa Rosa County Commissioner Bob Cole with a non-criminal violation of the Government-in-Sunshine Law. It is punishable by a fine not exceeding $500.

Cole is a member of the Milton Downtown Redevelopment Advisory Board. Prior to a Jan. 15 meeting, he discussed an agenda item with another board member, Elba Robertson. That discussion is a Sunshine violation because it happened outside a public meeting.

Robertson was not charged because she is a non-elected volunteer member of the board. She has resigned from the board and has agreed to not serve on any Sunshine boards without additional training in the law.
