The Daily News reports that former assistant public information officer Romi White has filed several complaints against the Santa County Commission for “multiple and egregious violations†of Florida’s Sunshine Law and “concerted efforts†between commissioners to keep private e-mails concerning county business. One of the violations concerns a private meeting of Commissioners Gordon Goodin, Don Salter, John Broxson, Tom Stewart and Bob Cole in March 2007 during which they discussed a hiring freeze that they voted on at a public meeting the following day. Broxson and Stewart lost re-election in 2008.
White told the Daily News that she took notes immediately after the meeting. Those notes are the basis of her sworn statement to the State Attorney’s Office.
