Sarasota cuts 100 jobs

Sarasota is cutting 100 jobs, reducing the work force to the same size it was in the early 1990s – the city – which is about the same size as Pensacola – has 740 employees.

According to the Herald Tribune:

The city has to trim $10.4 million from the budget over the next two years as state tax reforms take effect. Tax changes approved by the Legislature have reduced the tax bills of homeowners. At the same time, the tax reforms are causing cities to tighten budgets.
