Saturday Shopping

Saturday mornings are still intact at Palafox Market. The outside shopping spot is expanding and will have its opening day of the season on May 5.

Entering its fifth season, Palafox Market will include new vendors, more products and even more Saturdays to peruse through the goods offered by local farmers, gardeners, artisans and bakers. The market will now include all three medians in Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza on Palafox between Garden and Wright Streets.

The market will now also be year-round on Saturdays through April 27, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Local farmers, home gardeners and area artists in the Escambia, Santa Rosa and Baldwin counties bring an array of goods to the market, providing a variety of colorful and enticing products.

“The Palafox Market is the best way for shoppers to find locally grown and crafted products at their freshest,” said Mary Bartlett, Palafox Market vendor and owner of Bartlett Meadows Farms. “The exchange between people and farmers insures the best possible food on local tables. From local honey and handmade soaps to pet foods, produce, baked goods, jellies, jewelry and handcrafted yard furniture, the Palafox Market has it all.”

Palafox Market started in 2008 as a joint venture between the Downtown Improvement Board and Community Redevelopment Agency. The market averages 55 vendors a week and 1,700 patrons.
