George Scarborough is winning over many of the same Baptist Hospital docs that supported Holly Benson so heavily. Both Collier Merrill and his brother Joe are board members at Sacred Heart.
Some political insiders were trying to see the GOP nomination race as battle between the two hospitals that clashed before when then House Majority Leader Jerry Maygarden tried to get hospital beds for Baptist’s Nine Mile Road location.
Right now, I don’t see that happening. However, Clay Ford may get some significant support from Gulf Breeze Hospital and Andrews Institute due to the City of Gulf Breeze’s support of those facilities.
Expect Baptist Healthcare to stay neutral.
