Here is something that will never happen in Pensacola, but it should. The St. Pete Times reports that the Pinellas County School Board wants to talk publicly about frustrations with its superintendent’s leadership. A majority of board members said Thursday they are concerned about what they see as a long-running pattern of poor decisionmaking and a lack of communication.
The Pinellas superintendent is hired, Escambia’s is elected. Regardless, there is a mounting frustration with how the school district is run and people need an opportunity to express those viewpoints.
The word I’m getting from the District’s Pace Palace is that Superintendent Thomas wants anything controversial quelled and kept out of the media. He’s up for re-election in 2012 and needs a quiet year. Expect a lot of publicity on the new Global Academy and very little on Warrington Middle.
