School Board member Jeff “Godzilla” Bergosh wants to put another obstacle in front of law enforcement investigating crimes on public school campuses. “I believe the district needs a better policy which affords parents the opportunity to be present when their children are questioned at school for serious incidents which could potentially lead to civil or criminal liability (for the student and/or the parents),” wrote Bergosh on his blog.
Under Bergosh’s proposal, “when law enforcement authorities seek to interview a student, the school official shall, before allowing the law enforcement agent to interview the student, attempt to contact and obtain permission of the student’s parent or guardian unless extenuating circumstances dictate that this not be done.”
Bergosh has a very personal motive for this new layer of bureaucracy, according to our sources. He is upset with how law enforcement handled his son, after his child’s prank left a classmate unconscious and requiring an ambulance to take her to a local hospital.
Sexual assaults, like the one last year at Tate High School, didn’t bother Bergosh enough for him to require the school principal to call the victim’s mother, but, by god, don’t mess with his kid.

I reported last week on the elementary school student who threatened his teacher with a knife and how the school system delayed involving law enforcement while everyone got permission from the Pace Palace (District Administration) to call for help.
That same student was back in classroom yesterday, which he promptly destroyed. He was hauled off in handcuffs.

Last week, WEAR TV 3 reported two teachers at Camelot Academy, the charter school paid by the School District to handle over 200 middle and high school students that have been booted from the other schools, had been arrested for battery against students. Deputy Superintendent Norm Ross told the IN that the School District knew about it within days after the arrest. However, none of the school board members were told.
Bergosh has been silent about the arrests on his blog, though he has found time to attack the community-run A.A. Dixon charter school.
