Terik Miller is a senior football player that transferred to play at Escambia High. He has been suspended by the school district from playing as fallout from the alleged recruiting violations by the head coach. His family has hired an attorney, Robert Rushing, to appeal his case.
Miller is a gifted athlete and already has a scholarship offer from Louisiana-Lafayette. He has received letters and interest from several major colleges.
“The decision to prevent Terik from playing football has been made without any consideration of the effect the decision has on Terik’s future college opportunities, and it has been made without providing Terik with the opportunity to explain in that his transfer was proper and justified,” wrote Rushing in a letter dated Sept. 11 to the Superintendent Malcolm Thomas and Board Chair Linda Moultrie.
Rushing laid the facts that his client was properly enrolled and committed no violations.
He also told how the boy was interrogated in a “secluded room” without notifying his parents and without their consent. Later the school principal told his mother that he wasn’t aware of the investigators coming to the school. Superintendent Thomas admitted Mrs. Miller in June that the investigators acted improperly.
Still her son was suspended.
Rushing asked that his client be reinstated immediately. As of 2 p.m. he has not heard from Superintendent Thomas. Stay tuned.
