Race to be Pensacola’s next mayor has heated up with Steve Sharp releasing on the eve of the PNJ political forum a poll that shows him in a statistical tie with the heavily-funded D.C. Reeves among GOP and NPA voters.

The Political Matrix/Listener Group polled 411 likely Republican and NPA voters. Here is what the survey found:

Total %
D.C  Reeves 143 34.8%
Steve Sharp 121 29.4%
Jewel Cannada-Wynn 55 13.4%
Sherri Myers 53 12.9%
Undecided 39 9.5%

Methodology: The persons sampled were City of Pensacola Republican and NPA voters with a voter score of 90% or higher. The voters called were those only with landlines and were called using an Interactive Voice Response system during the hours of 4-8 p.m. on July 24-25. The margin of error is +/-5.5% with a confidence level of 95%.

Inweekly has requested a copy of the full survey from the Steve Sharp campaign and will publish it when received. No word on why Democrats were excluded from the poll. It’s expected that Cannada-Wynn and Myers will do well with Democrats.

Per Escambiavotes.com,  Reeves has spent $251,229 on the race; Cannada-Wynn $18,734; Sharp $16,623; and Myers $5,880.
