Sheriff Morgan halts trolley greetings

In a letter that was hand-delivered to Federal Judge Roger Vinson, Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan has agreed to stop thanking prospective jurors for their service at the trolley stop near the Pensacola Civic Center. “There is no honor in this acquiescence,” wrote Morgan. “Yet what can be only described as an impending media circus must be avoided.”

Morgan wrote that he was confident that he would prevail in court, but “it is not prudent to hobble the Offices of the State Attorney, and the courts hearing after hearing in motions to suppress, dismiss, etc.”
