Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said there may be a link between the drive-by shooting in Diego Circle yesterday and the triple homicide in Myrtle Grove last month.
On WCOA’s “Real News with Rick Outzen” this morning, Sheriff Simmons said:
“Many times, I’m the one that says we’re concerned about retaliation. You made him comment that this is cyclical and we look for some sort of retaliation and we agreed upon that.
Sure enough, here it is, the city had a homicide a day or two ago, so we weren’t sure which retaliation it was going to be, but we do believe it’s retaliation for the triple homicide. Some of the people that are involved in the triple homicide are the victims in this case.”
- Three people were shot in a drive-by in Escambia County Tuesday around 4 p.m. on Diego Circle off Massachusetts Ave. According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle drove up to a residence and fired shots. Three people sustained gunshot wounds.
Sheriff Simmons added, “We suspected that the individuals that are probably involved were going to be the next targets. And now it looks like that has taken place. Fortunately, no one was killed.”
